A show cause order was issued by the Cebu City government to one of the footwear stores in Cebu City, JS Footwear, after their 11.11 grand opening sale attracted a large crowd.
Whoever started the monthly sale such the newly concluded 11.11, also known as the Singles Day, made our shopping experience even better and a little economical. In fact, a lot of people are looking forward to this sale every month and more stores are adapting to this new shopping platform in order to attract more customers.
This store in Cebu City scheduled their grand opening with a grand sale on November 11, 2020 supposedly, as what it consistently advertised on its Facebook page. Unexpectedly, a lot of people went out to take advantage of the grand opening sale. But the grand opening turned to be its grand closing as it was gradually flooded with people which clearly violated the COVID-19 health protocol.
After the show cause order by the city government, the management of the shoe store was given 72 hours to explain. It was also found out that the store violated not just the health protocol but also with regards to the necessary permits. It was discovered that the store has not yet finished registering the business and processing the mayor’s permit.
At the moment, the store remains closed, and only allows online orders for delivery. However, the Cebu City Emergency Operations Center urged those who went to the “Shoe Sale” to undergo a 14-day quarantine, and to immediately report to their respective barangay health centers if COVID-19 symptoms are experienced during the quarantine period.
